Inoue Takehiko is a Japanese manga/comic artist that I've been admiring since high school. His latest work, Vagabond is the most inspiring series I've ever encounter in the manga industry. It portrays a fictionalized account of the life of Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, based on Eiji Yoshikawa's novel Musashi.
In order to draw a person's former life, he dug into Japanese art histories and therefore decided to challenge himself drawing manga using a brush. He is the only manga artist that uses brushes to draw. His organic brush strokes and lines made his characters more lively, especially their hair.
Reading through the pages, I can somehow feel the characters being alive.
